Double Consonant Floss Words Phonics Games and Interventions

Hey, y'all! I am so excited to share this with y'all! Recently, I started working on some phonics games and interventions for my students. I've already added some letter sounds and short vowel phonics centers to my TPT store, but I also added these double consonant floss words phonics centers as well!

My students did great last year with the phonics component of our district's reading program, but I wanted them to have more hands-on practice reading the words we're studying and applying these new skills to their reading. So I've been working on creating phonics games, centers, and interventions that target each phonics skill in our program.

I love these games because they're easy for kids to understand and use independently. They are designed to be used for small group guided reading, interventions, or for independent practice for literacy centers or fast finishers.

This set of games has several Bump games, a Scoot game (great for assessment!), trail games like what you see below, writing cards, read and cover games, matching/memory cards, and roll and read games.

Some of the games are the same as in other phonics center sets and some are new, meaning, if you start at the beginning with the short vowel games, you'll only need to teach how to use a couple of them instead of teaching each game from scratch each time a new skill is taught. This allows the kids to focus on the skill being practiced and not on the logistics of game play.

You can check out the full set of phonics centers in my TPT store here. This set is part of a larger growing bundle designed to last you the entire school and will work with any reading program your school uses. While you're checking it out, be sure to follow me on TPT. I'll be adding a TON of new phonics games over the next few weeks and you won't want to miss them!

I hope you got some new ideas for your classroom and found some ways to help your new readers. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful week. I'll talk to you soon.

Stay cozy,
