December Morning Work for First Grade
Hey, y'all! At the time of this writing, it is far from the holidays. However, it's never too early to plan, right?! We've been loving our spiral review morning work in my first grade class and I plan on continuing it throughout the entire school year. These December morning work pages are fun, no prep, and cover a ton of first grade reading and math standards.
Every morning, as students come in and eat their breakfast, they work on their morning work. The front side is math and the back is reading/handwriting. If students are working on it without distractions, it usually takes about 15-20 minutes to complete.
Students work on it with a pencil until they finish or time is up. Then, they grab a colored pencil and we go over our work, correcting or completing it as we go. I always tell my firsties, if they get stuck on something, skip it and do what they know they can complete. That way, if something consistently isn't done, I know what they need extra help on.
December's morning work covers adding and subtracting, one more/one less/ten more/ten less, number order, comparing numbers, shapes, making 10 to add, fact families, time to the half hour, measurement, correcting sentences, double letters, digraphs, ending punctuation, handwriting, and more.
These would also be perfect for right after they come back from lunch. The kids are always so wiggly straight out of the cafeteria. Have a calm activity for them to do as they come in would also work.
I hope you found some things that work for your classroom. I'm always adding new resources, ideas, and freebies so be sure to follow me on TPT so you don't miss a thing.
Have a wonderful week and I'll talk to you soon.
Stay cozy,
