October Morning Work for First Grade

Hey, y'all! October is the perfect time to start reviewing skills students have learned, if you haven't begun already. Every morning, my students come in and get started on their morning work while they eat breakfast. We review reading skills, math, and handwriting each day. These October morning work pages are fun, seasonal, and a great spiral review.

Each day has a few math problems and reading, grammar, and handwriting practice. My students work other pages in pencil until time is up, then we go over our work together as a class. As we go over it, students use a colored pencil to make corrections and/or finish up their work.

This gives us plenty of time to talk about different types of math problems and grammar rules, review things they've already learned, and pre-teach the next unit. The handwriting practice is one of my favorite parts. My students are more mindful of their letter and number formation and the rest of their writing has improved tremendously.

October's morning work covers things like addition and subtraction, adding 3 numbers, base ten numbers, hundreds charts, number bonds, fact families, sight words, CVC words, correcting sentences, identifying complete sentences, and more.
