Back to School Writing Prompts
Hey, y'all! Back to School season is right around the corner and my teammates and I are already knee-deep in planning our first few writing units. We decided to use writing prompts with our first graders last year because they needed so much support with writing. That's where these back to school writing prompts came in.
This little unit is full of writing crafts and prompts to get to know your students and help them get to know each other. Students share about their favorite things, what they like, what they need their teacher to know, and so much more.
This back to school set includes narrative, opinion, and descriptive writing prompts, as well as "how-to's" and poetry writing prompts. Students can share some of their thoughts for the coming school year and you can get to know them as people and as writers.
This unit is NO PREP. Just print and go. I like to copy mine back to back and create a little writing journal out of it so that there aren't pages EVERYWHERE. The kids absolutely love bringing their journals home at the end of the month and showing their grown-ups.
Have you started planning yet for back to school? Let me know in the comments. I hope you have a wonderful week and I'll talk to you soon.
Stay cozy,
