April Morning Work for First Grade

Hey, y'all! We started this kind of morning work this semester and it has done wonders for our class! We are review skills, learning new ones, and practicing things we're currently working on. These April morning work pages are a life-saver!

On one side, students practice different math skills we've learned or are learning. Some of them we haven't gotten to yet becomes a bit of a pre-assessment to see how much time we'll need on those units.

The other side has handwriting, grammar, and reading skills practice.

Our class has a 30 minute block of time in the morning where students are still coming in, getting breakfast, and working on their morning work. I encourage them to do as much as they can on their own, but offer support where I know certain students will need it. It's kind of Tier 2 time.

After the 30 minutes is up and announcements are over, we go over our work as a whole class. My students use a colored pencil or crayon to make any corrections or finish whatever they weren't sure of. This makes it super easy for me to know who's getting it and who's not (or who's not even trying!).
