Spring and Summer Vocabulary Practice
Hey, y'all! Where I'm at right now, it does not feel like spring or summer at all. But that won't keep me from dreaming of warmer weather! And these vocabulary write the room activities for spring and summer are just the thing to help me think warm thoughts! ☀️
In our classroom, we practice vocabulary with these simple and easy to use seasonal write the room cards. First, I hang them up around the room or put them in a sensory bin. Then, the kids move around the room trying to find all the cards.
When they find a card, they write the word from the card next to the matching picture on their recording sheet. Easy peasy.
When everyone is finished, we go over the words together as a class and talk about what each one means if students have questions.
I have always had a lot of English Language Learners in my classes so vocabulary has become a key part in what we do. And, let's face it, at this age even our native English speakers are still learning the language. So everyone benefits from the added practice.
We use write the rooms ALL THE TIME in our classroom. It gets the kids up and moving and they have some great conversations about what they're working on. We use these for reading, vocabulary, math skills, social studies, and more.
You can check out the spring set here and the summer set here. For a peek at all of the write the rooms we use, check them out here.
Stay cozy,
