Thanksgiving Dinner Opinion Writing
Hey, y'all. Kids are so funny, don't you think? Each year, we talk about Thanksgiving dinner and the kids are shocked to find out that at the first Thanksgiving dinner turkey wasn't the main dish. Every time I tell my class that, 22 minds are blown at the same time! We almost always have a discussion about what we should be eating for Thanksgiving after that.
This year, the kids are going to be putting their thoughts in writing. We'll be reading two passages about Thanksgiving dinner then and what it looks like now. Students are always amazed to find out the first meal lasted three days!
Then, we'll be doing some comparing and contrasting and getting our thoughts organized to do our opinion writing: What should we eat for Thanksgiving dinner?
Should we follow traditions we're used to, or eat what they ate at the first Thanksgiving, or throw caution to the wind and go for a pizza? ;-P How important are traditions? And should they change over time? So much to talk about!
I'm always adding new resources so be sure to follow me on TPT for all the latest ideas, resources, and updates. I hope you found some new ideas for your classroom that you love as much as I do. Have a wonderful week and I'll talk to you soon.
Stay cozy,
